What's Happening in Norwalk, CT…

Fairfield Theatre to host rock concert

For all Norwalk alternative rock fans who enjoy pop-songwriting with a twinge of grunge, Toad the Wet Sprocket is back in town this weekend.

A touch of the past with an emphasis on the now, the band has reformed and has released its first record in 16 years. The band is made up of members of that were high school buddies, and it takes its name from Monty Python member Eric Idle’s fictitious band.

TTTWS has had a musical career spanning 25 years, which includes six studio albums, three compilation albums, three live albums, and 17 singles. The group reconvened in 2008 after a lengthy hiatus and released a new studio album last year called ‘New Constellation’. This year the group has released a single called ‘The Moment’ from their new record.

Lead singer Glen Phillips and crew are taking a new track as they have released their music for free, and they are funding the pressing and recording of their work from their own label through crowdsourcing. This live performance, however, will cost from $35 to $55 per ticket. Poster printing has been done for the group, with vintage posters going for as high as $43.

The concert will be given Friday, August 29, from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Fairfield Theatre Concert Hall, 25 East Avenue, Norwalk.
