What's Happening in Norwalk, CT…

Community on the run for charity

The Annual Donnelly Dash Community Challenge will be coming to Fairfield toward the end of April, provided the event can go ahead amid coronavirus concerns.

Only a short way from Norwalk, the Donnelly Dash will have a timed 3.5-mile run/walk, an untimed 1.5-mile walk, and a non-competitive free kids’ run. The event donates to the Fairfield Police Union Scholarship Fund and the Fairfield Police Explorers Post.

Registration for the 3.5-mile run will be $30 and this run will take place from 9:10 am until 11:00 am. The 1.5-mile walk will be $30 and start at 9:00 am, finishing around 11:00 am. The half hour kids’ fun run will be free and start at 8:30 am. Shirts sporting the event logo design will be guaranteed until April 12.

The course will be practically flat and family friendly; although there is a slight rise at first, it becomes a flat stretch afterwards, until right before the two-mile mark where there will be a small hill. From the three-mile mark to the finish line the course is all flat and downhill. Refreshments will be waiting at the finish line.

The kids’ run is for children up to and including 6th graders and will take place behind the school on the lower field. The distance will be determined by the ages of the participants. Usually there is a short 100 meters to 200 meters run and a quarter-mile option.

The Donnelly Dash will be April 24 at Tomlinson Middle School, 200 Unquowa Road.
