Patsy’s Pizzeria is now open in Greenwich on East Putnam Avenue.
Patsy’s got its start in New York City in 1933 with the opening of a shop in East Harlem that had a coal-fired pizza. The owner of the shop, Pasquale “Patsy” Lancieri is believed to be the one who made popular the thin crust, New York style pizza.
Steve Haxhiaj, owner of Patsy’s, also owns Tuscany Steakhouse and Il Monello Italian Restaurant in Manhattan and combined all three concepts into one menu so that Patsy’s is more than a pizzeria. Patsy’s menu features veal and lamb chops, steak, homemade Italian dishes and pasta, fish, chicken, and pizza.
Patsy’s has a full bar and seats for about 65 people. Such new eateries can turn to local Print shops to help promote their opening in a town with Flyers and other printed materials.
Haxhiaj said what is special about the pizza at Patsy’s is the thin crust, great sauce and cheese, and a very old-fashioned oven. He added that Greenwich is an ideal location for Patsy’s. He said that the town has many excellent restaurants but there was a need for a place like Patsy’s in the area.
The hours of the restaurant are currently Tuesday through Saturday from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. and from 3:00 to 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, with plans to open for lunch as well at some point.
