New Lebanon School is one of six schools in the state to earn the distinction. The school was recognized for this award for creating supportive and inclusive learning environments, advancing strong outcomes for their students, and demonstrating high levels of academic excellence in the categories of Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing and Exemplary High Performing.
Governor Ned Lamont congratulated New Lebanon School and the five other schools on earning this recognition that was well deserved. He added:
“The success of these schools is an example of why Connecticut’s public schools continue to rank among the best in the nation.”
The highest subject performance index scores across all subjects for students with high needs and all students at the school since 2014 have been posted by the school. There have been other improvements in the school in recent years. In 2021-2022, it earned School of Distinction status for the first time and then again two and three years later. The school also earned an overall accountability index score of 89.3 in the 2024-2025 academic year which was above the average in the state and the highest in the history of the school.
