Greenwich seeks to construct new apartment building

A developer is looking to build an apartment building with nine units and four stories on a currently unoccupied parking in Greenwich.

The site is on Brookside Drive and was once used as additional parking for the Acme supermarket, which closed last summer when the lease expired. The applicant, 49 Brookside Ownership LLC, is requesting that the property be rezoned from a public zone to a Commercial General Business zone.

The new building will span over 19,000 square feet with two units with two bedrooms and seven units with three bedrooms. One of the two-bedroom units will be designated as affordable housing.

Among the amenities in the building will be private and common roof decks, and patios for units on the first floor. All units will have both heating and air conditioning. The basement will offer space for storage units and bike storage for each apartment.

Such proposed projects can take advantage of brochure printing to provide more details about their features.

A total of 22 parking spaces will be provided, with one handicap space. These will be divided between 17 spaces in an underground garage and five surface parking spaces. Brookside Drive will have an entrance-only driveway in addition to a two-way driveway.

The application was submitted for review at the end of last month and is currently under consideration.
