Old Greenwich features new barbeque eatery

Houndstooth Barbecue, a new pop-up eatery serving a wide selection of barbeque items, is partnering with Garden Catering to offer a fast-food weekend pickup service in Greenwich.

Tina Carpenteri, co-owner of Garden Catering, has been running the pop-up Clam Shack over the summer and was looking for an option better suited for the winter months. Carpenteri was introduced to Mike Partridge, the owner of Houndstooth Barbeque and a self-taught barbecue pit master, and decided to open a pop-up after tasting the food prepared by Partridge.

Items on the menu at Houndstooth include pulled pork, ribs, barbeque wings, and a selection of Southern side dishes, as well as banana pudding and barbeque banh mi. Partridge said the county does not offer many options for this type of food, and felt that it would be a successful venture, as well as a way to introduce this food to residents. Local Print shops are often hired to create printed Menus of items available for order and any additional specials for restaurants.

Partridge’s partner in the venture is Judd Nieman. They both studied at the University of Alabama and spent many hours eating and exploring the food of the deep south so that their food has Southern authenticity.

Houndstooth Barbecue will open on Saturday, January 9. Customers are encouraged to order on Fridays for pickup on the weekend.
