A new proposal has been submitted to the Planning and Zoning Commission for a major revitalization project at Greenwich Plaza.
The plans include the demolition of the movie theater at the corner of Steamboat Road and Railroad Avenue, which covers just over 16,000 square feet. Bruce Cohen, attorney for The Ashforth Company, which owns Greenwich Plaza, said there will be built a new mixed-use building spanning close to 8,000 square feet in its place. Banner printing can often be found at such sites to inform residents of upcoming projects and their benefits for the community.
There will be a restaurant spanning 5,000 square feet in the new mixed-use building at the corner of Steamboat Road and Railroad Plaza. There will also be outdoor seating, green space, and a pedestrian plaza. Improved access and egress for pedestrians will be provided in a redesigned train station platform. West of the restaurant will be retail space covering 2,000 square feet.
The existing commercial spaces east of the train station will be renovated to accommodate new spaces for tenants and new retail storefronts. Resurfacing and renovation of the train station itself will also be undertaken. Cohen said that the lighting will be upgraded, there will be more modern signage, and new materials will be used to make the station more distinctive and distinguished.
