The newly expanded main art gallery at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich will be opening a major international exhibit next month.
Special exhibits such as this one are often promoted throughout an area with poster printing.
The exhibit will feature the works of Laurits Andersen Ring, a symbolist and realist painter from Denmark. The American Friends of Statens Museum for Kunst initiated the exhibit. L.A. Ring is one of the most important Danish artists with the National Gallery of Denmark (SMK) holding the largest collection of his drawings and paintings. This exhibit will display 25 of his most significant pieces which highlight key themes and the complexity of his work.
Director of the SMK, Mikkel Bogh, commented about this inaugural exhibit outside the Nordic region to be dedicated to L.A. Ring, saying that the mission of the Gallery is to its collection known to a wider audience such as those outside of Scandinavia. As L.A. Ring was able to interpret the how the human existence was able to change during the early modern times in Denmark and elsewhere, it is believed that his work will appeal to those in the United States and around the world.
Support for the exhibit was provided by Amica Insurance and the Connecticut Office of the Arts. The exhibit will open on Saturday, February 1 and run through Sunday, May 24.
