Greenwich to be home to neighborhood bakery

Buddy Valastro, master baker and host of the Cake Boss on TLC, recently announced that he will be opening a branch of Carlo’s Bakery sometimes this fall, in the very building in which the Greenwich Times newspaper was printed almost 50 years ago.

As the star of the program, Valastro and his team create extremely imaginative and elaborate custom cakes which have been featured in various publications. No doubt flyer printing and poster printing are being used to let the community know of this new addition to downtown Greenwich.

According to Adam Bourcier, Chief Brand Officer for the bakery, the location was chosen so as to enable the bakery to be like the neighborhood ones of many years ago. The space is 3,400 square feet in size and will accommodate retail space, a bakery facility, and multi-purpose room so people can hold events such as birthday parties, baby showers, or corporate events. The bakery will also hold classes on cake decorating and other ways people can bring out their more creative sides in baking.

Carlo’s Bakery had its beginnings in Hoboken, New Jersey and Bourcier found that many people from outside of the state came to attend these cake decorating classes; Greenwich being in the top five places from which people came. Consequently, Bourcier decided that Greenwich would be a good location outside of New Jersey to which the bakery could expand.

The bakery will employ between 15 and 20 people and Valastro plans to occasionally film episodes of Cake Boss in the new location.
