Greenwich students visit bakery for lessons on business

The United Way Finance Champions of Greenwich made a visit to COBBS Bread Bakery in Riverdale to celebrate the fifth year of the program.

The Finance Champions are Greenwich middle school students who are part of the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich. The students learned the principles of earning, saving, and spending money wisely. Local Print shops can be used for printing Flyers and other materials with more details about principles. The COBS Bread Bakery provided the students with sweet treats and taught them about how to run a successful business.

Owners of the bakery—Louise, Tom, and Rob Hyden—shared their insights on how they make bread with healthy ingredients. They also spoke about employment opportunities in the future in the Greenwich community. Students learned about how COBS prepares baked goods, the technology used in its systems, how to forecast demand for products, and how to deliver outstanding customer service.

CEO of Greenwich United Way, David Rabin, said that the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich and the United Way are grateful for those at COBS Bread Bakery for taking time to talk with the young people in the community. He added that the Finance Champions were given the chance to see the principles and apply them in real life, meaning they could expand their knowledge and visions for the future.
