Greenwich nominates science teacher for annual award

Dr. Sarah Goldin has been selected by Superintendent William McKersie as the representative for the Teacher of the Year program for 2017.

Dr. Goldin is a founding member of the AVID program at Greenwich High School. This program provides scholarships to help students earn admittance to college. When she came to Greenwich High School in 2009, she implemented the Innovation Lab, which is a collaborative and project-based learning program that engages students in real-world issues.

According to McKersie, Dr. Goldin not only is able to connect with individual students and small groups in the classroom, but is committed to helping them outside the classroom and working extensively with her colleagues.

In April, the Distinguished Teachers Awards Committee selected and honored Dr. Goldin as one of six teachers. From these, the Superintendent of Schools needs to choose one o to represent Greenwich in the program run by the state.

Dr. Goldin spent 11 years in primary science after receiving her doctoral degree in development and genetics from Columbia University in 2002. She has also worked for an intellectual property firm as a patent agent and scientific adviser.

The Greenwich public schools might consider various printing services to promote Dr. Goldin and her contributions to the school district throughout the state, putting her case forward for consideration for the award.
