The Greenwich United Way is currently planning to celebrate its 85th anniversary.
The celebration will pay tribute to the year 1933, when the Greenwich United Way was founded as the Greenwich Community Chest and Council. Proceeds of the event will go towards programs of the organization that support self-sufficiency, education, and health in the community.
David Rabin, CEO of Greenwich United Way, said that the celebration is looking to discover how the organization has impacted residents of Greenwich and is looking for comments from the community on positive impacts the organization has made over the past 85 years on people’s lives. Events such as this one can use posting printing to promote such gathering of comments and participation by the community.
With the theme of the celebration being Pearls and Prohibition, attendees are encouraged to wear vintage clothing from the 1920s and 1930s. United Bank, Greenwich Hospital, Sophia’s, and Shreve Crump and Low are among the sponsors of the event.
Last month, to kick off the celebration, an exclusive speakeasy party was held for underwriters and patrons at Shreve Crump and Low. The company sold pearls and other items at the event and is planning to donate 20% of sales of all pearls from that event to the Greenwich United Way.
The 85th Anniversary Celebration will take place at the Greenwich Country Club this Saturday, October 13.
