A residential building is being proposed to be built on Mason Street in central Greenwich.
The attorney representing the proposal, Thomas Heagney, said that the building will have seven units, one of which will be affordable housing and will be reserved for an employee of the town of Greenwich. Those eligible for the unit need to earn 80% of the median income in the area. A lottery will be used to select the tenant of the reserved property.
Brian Desroisier, the developer of the project, plans to demolish the office building currently on the site that dates to 1960, and build a new residential structure that will be three stories in height. The new building will span 15,369 square feet and will feature stone walls and extensive planting on Mason and Lewis Streets. The architect, Rudy Ridberg, said that this work on the site will enhance the landscaping to be more consistent with a high-quality residential building.
The building will be called The Madison. It will have cedar shingles, a veneer of cut stone, cantilevered balconies with wrought-iron railings, stone lintels, and a roof of wood shingles. Each corner will have structures like towers to help break up the roof line. There will be 25 parking spaces, 14 of which will be in an underground garage. Such features of developments like this are often highlighted with brochure printing.
No review of the building has been set by the Planning and Zoning Commission.
