Danbury Irish music lovers in for a treat

The Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Center will be hosting an evening with Irish accordionist John Whelan and fellow countryman fiddler Dylan Foley coming in early November.

Whelan is a seven-time All-Ireland Fleadh champion button accordionist and performs all over the world, bringing wit, humor, and energetic performances to his stage presence. His partner for the evening will be four-time All-Ireland Fleadh fiddling champion dylan Foley, who plays both the fiddle and traditional Irish whistles (which are shiny whistles that look a lot like fifes). Together, the two will perform a selection of traditional Irish tunes.

Tickets for the event can be purchased in advance for $20, o $25 at the door. The performance is being sponsored by the Andy McGann branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóiri Éireann, which brands itself as:

"…the largest organization in the world promoting traditional Irish music, dance, language and culture."

Donations in support of the branch will be accepted at the event as well.

Cultural centers like this often have pictures of the performers and their bios included in their program brochure printing months before the actual event.

The John Whelan and Dylan Foley Concert will take place on Friday, November 7, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm in the Heritage Room at the Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Center, 6 Lake Avenue in downtown Danbury.
