Renovated library in Aurora to open soon
The Martin Luther King (MLK) Jr. Library in Aurora, which has been recently renovated, will be opening in a couple of months.
The renovations modernized and doubled the space in the library from 7,000 to 14,000 square feet. There is now more space for public use, collaboration, zones for young people to learn, and multipurpose rooms, as well as new technology. The renovations were made possible by a federal grant of $2.5m.
News of such renovations and the additional services and benefits they provide can be made known throughout a community with flyer printing.
Following the revamp, the libraries at Iliff Square and Chambers Plaza will be closing, and those staff members will be reassigned to the Martin Luther King library.
Director of Library and Cultural Services, Ginger White Brunetti, said that this renovation and the expanded size of the library has impacted those in other libraries in the Aurora Public Library system, but the renovated library will now educate and promote alternative services in the library, such as the Bookmobile, online resources, and easy transportation options to other full-service libraries.
This expansion of the MLK Library aligns with priorities in the community and results of the library’s Strategic and Facilities Master Plan. The next library in the system to be renovated will be the Aurora Central Library, thanks to another federal grant of $3m.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Library will be opening on Monday, November 3.
