Marking 150 years of Colorado statehood and the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, “A Mosaic of Cultures: Aurora’s Filipino Community” will open at the Aurora History Museum next month. This exhibition explores the unique culture, history, and resilience of the Filipino community of the city. The exhibit will highlight how Filipino Americans have played an essential role in the legacy of the city, including its rich culture and diverse economy. This will open on Tuesday, April 21 and run through April of next year.
Christine Nguyen’s “Constellations of Time” will be installed as a new public artwork in Mission Viejo Park. The artwork will feature five stainless-steel sculptures painted by hand, which will be an eagle and a buffalo, a hare, a lynx, a great dog, and a wolf, with a sunflower radiating as the sun. Colorado wildlife and their corresponding constellations inspired the work, which will be installed in June.
The Aurora Reservoir will unveil interpretive language, signage, and amenities at the Senac Site Local Historic Landmark to recognize the indigenous history of the city. This event will take place in September.
