A new distribution center for Ferguson Enterprises in Aurora has been completed by Tompkins Solutions.
Tompkins is a leading supply chain consulting and services firm, while Ferguson is the largest distributor in the country of residential and commercial plumbing supplies.
Tompkins was enlisted by Ferguson to streamline its supply chain operations by creating a single facility in the Denver area that consolidates multiple distribution centers. This new facility will enable Ferguson to improve service levels for both external and internal customers throughout the region and reduce its processing costs per unit. News of such new facilities is often disseminated throughout a region with flyer printing.
Senior director of supply chain strategy at Ferguson, Chris Everett, said that the company is differentiated from its competition with its robust supply chain network and distribution centers. Everett added that Tompkins best understood the needs of the company and worked with the company throughout the entire process to provide the knowledge and high levels of service the company endeavors to provide to customers.
The new distribution center spans 435,000 square feet and features many significant solutions for handling materials, including an automated storage and retrieval system. The facility also includes offices, warehouse space, and a counter for trade contractors.
The two companies will be collaborating on the retrofitting and design of additional distribution centers throughout the country.
