New Aurora recreation center reaches milestone

The new recreation center in Aurora is currently under construction and celebrated its beam-topping out event.

The new center will span 76,000 square feet and will be on 600 acres on East Alexander Drive, south of the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds and west of the Aurora Reservoir. The project is expected to cost $41.9m.

The center will feature pool party rooms, an indoor pool with a waterslide, group exercise rooms, and a fitness area with a fitness turf zone that will cover 1,000 square feet. Other features will include a gym, multipurpose community rooms, an indoor fieldhouse, and a running track in a figure-of-eight configuration with various elevations. Brochure printing is often used to provide more details about the amenities and features of such facilities.

Integrated public art will also be included in the new center. Project One Studio of Indianapolis has been selected by the Art in Public Places Program of Aurora to integrate art throughout the recreation center.

Françoise Bergan, Mayor Pro Tempore of Aurora, expressed his thrill with the progress being made at the recreation center. He said that the design is compatible with the natural setting, offers the activities of greatest interest to community, and takes advantage of the views of the mountains. He added that this will be a great asset to the community.

The facility is expected to be completed in early 2023.
