Mobile library now offered in Aurora

The Aurora Public Library (APL) now has a bookmobile, which is a fully functional library in itself.

The vehicle covers 120 square feet and is more than a truck filled with Books. It has a sound system, a connection for Wi-Fi, and an awning to make a shady outdoor space. Among its services are the ability to return and check out Books, pick up items on hold, use the internet, and sign up for a library card.

Print shops can lend a hand in promoting such new services throughout a city by supplying Flyers and other materials with more information.

Midori Clark, Library and Cultural Services Director, said that the new bookmobile makes it possible to bring library services to the people of Aurora, particularly those who are not able to get to one of the library’s brick-and-mortar locations. It will be used to visit assisted living facilities, schools (some of which do not have their own libraries), and places in the city that are a long way from any branch of the library. Clark added that this is one of the efforts to bring people back to the library after the events of the past three years.

Abraham Morales, a spokesperson for the city, said that many schools have already reached out to the library about the bookmobile, and that he hopes it will bring the library to where people live.
