Finalist determined in Aurora for city manager

Jason Batchelor, the Interim City Manager of Aurora, has been listed as a finalist for permanent position.

Announcements of such job news are often made known throughout a city with poster printing.

The previous city manager was Jim Twombly, who retired in April. Batchelor has been in the position since then and has gained the confidence of the members of the city council with regard to his experience, leadership, and successful performance in the many responsibilities he has taken on. Batchelor has proven to be able to guide and manage the city, having served as interim city manager twice.

Batchelor graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1996 and has master’s degrees in public administration and engineering from the University of Texas. His career in Aurora began 15 years ago, starting as budget officer and moving into the position of finance director and then deputy city manager. He has led many significant city projects.

The responsibilities of the city manager are to ensure that the policies set by the city council and the mayor are carried out. Furthermore, they manage, recruit, and hire staff for the city, oversee the daily operations of the city, and prepare and recommend a budget.

Batchelor’s appointment as city manager requires a majority vote of the Aurora City Council, which will take place at an upcoming regular meeting of the council.
