Career fairs are being held by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) this month and next month with one to be held in Aurora in October.
Such fairs are often promoted throughout a community with banner printing.
The CDOT is looking to hire people in positions that are both permanent full-time and part-time, as well as temporary full-time. The temporary positions are seasonal and generally last for nine months. Those who are hired for temporary positions can apply for full-time positions based on their experience gained while working on a temporary basis.
All the permanent positions include benefits and have opportunities for promotion. All positions include sick time which is paid and some of the positions offer a housing stipend.
Among the open positions are a highway maintenance employee and a temporary winter employee, both of which require two years of experience in equipment and/or labor operation and a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) A or B. Temporary highway maintenance trainees are also being hired. These positions require that applicants have a valid regular driver’s license and be 18 years old. Both temporary and permanent equipment mechanics are also being hired. A CDL is preferred but not required for these positions.
The career fair in Aurora will be held on Saturday, October 2 from 8:00 am to noon at the CDOT on East Colfax Avenue.
