Aurora to host annual display of donated wreaths

The annual Festival of Wreaths is being hosted by the Aurora Museum Foundation for its 24th year.

This is a fundraiser for the Foundation that features wreaths which local organizations, businesses, and individuals in the Aurora community have decorated and donated for the festival. They are displayed in the Community Gallery of the Aurora History Museum. There is an online auction through which people can bid on the wreaths, which are then sold to the highest bidder.

Such special events and their fundraising efforts are often made known throughout the community with poster printing.

The proceeds from this year’s sale of wreaths will go towards the installation and complete restoration of the iconic Cactus Motel sign in Aurora. The sign was on Colfax Avenue from 1951 through 1995, and has been in storage at the Aurora Reservoir. The Historic Site’s staff and the Aurora History Museum cleaned it up and moved it back to the museum. The new home of the sign will be in the Ruth Fountain Gallery. Other parts of the funding will go to support the community events and education programs of the museum.

The opening hours of the museum are from 9:00am to 4:00pm from Tuesday through Friday, and Saturday and Sunday from 11:00am to 4:00pm. The wreaths are currently on display, and will be until Sunday, December 10.
