Aurora to be home at a new school of nursing

The Galen College of Nursing and HealthONE has announced that it will be opening a new campus for students interested in nursing in Aurora.

While the new facility is being built, the school will be at a temporary site on South Vaughan Way. Both a three-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and a two-year associate degree in nursing will be offered by Galen. Brochure printing can be used to offer more details about such programs and their requirements.

Vice president of clinical education at HealthONE, Jennifer Broekema, said that the school wants to ensure that there are enough people in its healthcare facilities to take care of patients and their families. She added that there is such an increasing demand that there are not enough nurses who are able to work in their facilities.

The executive vice president of nursing for Galen College of Nursing, Dr. Audria Denker, added that typically nursing colleges have long wait lists for students wanting to attend their schools. Dr. Denker said that Galen has 20 campuses across the country and decades of experience and tends to attract a different kind of student. In addition, the school admits students four times a year, which offers additional opportunities for anyone attending.

Applications are already being accepted by the school, and the first term will start on Monday July 8.
