The work will open the second floor of the building to the public for the first time since it was built in 2004. It will expand the footprint of the library on the main floor and transform the building into a hub for learning, creativity, and connections in the community. The updated space will have maker spaces, flexible program rooms, digital media labs, study areas, and expanded seating.
Brochure printing can be used to provide more details on the features and new amenities of such renovations.
The director of Library and Cultural Services for the city of Aurora, Ginger White Brunetti, said:
“this is a transformational investment in the people of Aurora.”
She added that with support from Congress the library will be able to be updated and expanded without the need for funds from the city. She said that this will create opportunities for belonging, learning, and creativity.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Library is in the heart of the city and last year was visited by more than 70,000 people and hosted over 40,000 computer sessions.
The work is expected to be completed by this fall.
