Two activities are being offered by the Messenger Public Library in North Aurora.
Such events and offerings are often made known throughout the community with poster printing.
The first is a free virtual celebration of Kwanzaa. Among the featured activities during the celebration will be Baba Tony Brown and Kucha Brownlee, storytellers from Chicago. This will be a program that will last one hour and have songs, stories, and activities designed for people of all ages.
Introduced during the program will be the principles and symbols of Kwanzaa. It will celebrate children, which the holiday considers to be the first fruits. There are seven principles of Kwanzaa, which include creativity, co-operative economics, collective work and responsibility, and faith. There will also be shekere playing, African drumming, and participation by the audience. Those who are interested in this celebration can call the library or sign up online to register. It will be available for viewing until Saturday, January 2.
The library is also offering free boxed suppers and snacks for all children and teenagers who are under the age of 18 years. Those who are interested in these lunches do not need to register, but are recommended to sign up for texts and email reminders. These meals are available Mondays and Fridays from 3:30 to 4:30 pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
