Aurora companies receive special funding

Early-Stage Capital and Retention Grants will be given to 22 companies in Colorado from the Advanced Industries Accelerator (AIA) Program. Of these companies, three are in Aurora.

These grants are used to provide funds for companies that meet certain criteria - they need to be in their early stages of development and working on innovative technologies to create products that can be manufactured Colorado, exported globally, and meet a need in the market. Announcements of such awards are often made public throughout a community with banner printing.

One of the companies to receive these funds is Aurora Oncology, Inc. This biopharmaceutical company is entering clinical trials to develop targeted therapeutics to treat non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. Such therapeutics have a low toxicity and are highly effective when compared to other therapies already on the market.

Another company is GelSana Therapeutics, Inc. which produces hydrogels that increase the speed of the healing of wounds, particularly for chronic wounds. The hydrogels create a moist and anti-inflammatory environment, are easy to apply, and remain stable over long periods of time.

The third company is MBC Pharma Inc., which is also entering clinical trials and is developing therapeutics targeted at treating cancer-induced bone disease. Its first proof of concept efficacy has been demonstrated in patients with bone lesions induced by prostate or breast cancer.
