West Sacramento to offer rowing class for adults

The River City Rowing Club will hold several classes in West Sacramento to teach adults how to row.

Adult Learn to Row is a program where those with no rowing experience can learn the fundamentals of operating an eight-person rowing shell from experienced instructors. The class will cover topics like the sweep rowing stroke, important rowing commands, and crew dynamics. The co-ed program is designed to challenge new rowers over time to create a dramatic learning curve. Participants will be taught in a supportive and slightly competitive manner.

The River City Rowing Club is a grassroots organization that was created in 1983 to provide competitive and recreational rowing activities to the community. The boat house used by the group is located in the Port of West Sacramento. The organization manages a recreational middle school rowing program and offers Learn to Row lessons for juniors and adults. The River City Rowing Club also hosts events like the River City Rebellion and Head of the Port.

The first day of the rowing program will be held on Saturday, May 11th from 8:00 am to 10:15 am. Students will meet at the Port of West Sacramento every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday until May 30th. The cost to join Learn to Row is $200 per person. Sports organizations that put together similar activities to this may use poster printing to advertise their group classes.
