A musical about the life and songs of the late pop star Michael Jackson is coming to the SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center in the West Sacramento area this April.
MJ The Musical, which originally debuted in New York and has since picked up multiple awards, centers on the globally best-selling artist’s 1992 Dangerous World Tour.
The Broadway sensation was penned by the two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and features the direction and choreography of Christopher Wheeldon, who won a Tony Award for the play.
MJ The Musical also won Tony Awards for Best Sound Design of a Musical, Best Lighting Design of a Musical and Best Actor in a Musical for original performer Myles Frost, among other accolades.
With its glimpse into Michael Jackson’s creative and collaborative process, MJ The Musical is a deeper exploration than a mere showcase of his greatest dance moves, although it also has that in spades.
The musical has sold out shows in venues around the world, including Germany, London, and all around the United States.
Musicals like this may choose to use poster printing for low-cost promotion or stage decoration.
MJ The Musical is playing from April 8 to April 19, with matinee performances at 1:30 pm and evening shows at 7:30 pm, on select days, at the SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center at 1301 L St. in Sacramento.
