West Sacramento is hosting the 22nd annual Mediterranean Food and Music Festival this September.
People can expect to find all manner of favorite Mediterranean dishes, including stuffed grape leaves, chicken kebabs, gyro sandwiches, and baklava. The family-friendly event also includes live music and people are encouraged to engage in traditional Dabke dance.
The Mediterranean food on offer includes dishes from Egypt, Iraq, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine.
The 10-hour event will also include a giant dance party in the evening, with music by local middle school and high school bands. There are also other recreational opportunities, such as temporary henna tattoos from local vendors.
Though there is a $5 admission fee, children 12 and under are free and there is also free parking. Overflow parking can be found on surrounding neighborhood streets, at Jefferson Plaza and Lenise’s Cafe.
West Sacramento is a community known for its variety of Mediterranean restaurants both in town and in surrounding areas, including takeout options like Shah’s Hala Food, Jayna Gyro in Sacramento, and the Great Greek Mediterranean Grill.
