The West Sacramento area is welcoming a concert by Courtney Barnett this August.
Playing at Channel 24 Sacramento, Barnett will bring her signature unique singing voice and melancholy-yet-thoughtful lyrics to the stage to help support her new album, Creature of Habit.
Using a spontaneous approach to the songwriting, Barnett recorded Creature of Habit in Joshua Tree in Los Angeles. The artist’s fourth studio album takes on an optimistic theme while meditating on the beauty found in day-to-day life.
Having performed in music festivals all around the world, including Glastonbury of Coachella, Barnett is as much known for her dryly humorous-yet-weighty songwriting as she is for being a skilled guitarist. She was even nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist upon her 2015 debut Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit.
The all-ages event also features a performance by Zoh Amba, whose album Eyes Full is a combination of electric guitar and acoustic blues. The record is steeped in the sound and culture of Amba’s hometown of Kingsport, Tennessee, featuring Appalachian folk infused with modern rock sensibilities.
