Trailblazing punk band to headline West Sacramento area

Channel 24 in the West Sacramento area will host a concert by The Dresden Dolls this October.

With their mix of punk and performance art, The Dresden Dolls helped establish the “punk cabaret” genre shortly after the band formed in the year 2000 in Boston.

Bandmates Amanda Palmer and Brian Vigilone met at a Halloween party, combining their creative forces to make waves in the realms of underground art and music.

The Dresden Dolls released their debut album in 2003, the same year the band was the winner of a WBCN Rock and Roll Rumble contest. “Coin-Operated Boy” was among the singles the band released during this time.

The Showtime series Weeds helped launch the band into international recognition when it used The Dresden Dolls’ “Girl Anachronism,” another single from their debut album, in an episode in 2005.

Having toured the world and shared the stage with the likes of The Cure, Panic! At the Disco, Cyndi Lauper and Patti Smith, The Dresden Dolls would later enjoy shout-outs from artists such as Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, and Doja Cat, naming them as an influence.
