West Sacramento to hold senior art class

The City of West Sacramento will be organizing an online art lesson next week as part of the town’s Active Aging program.

Senior citizens interested in developing their art skills can attend a course taught by Carol Hawkins. She is part of the West Sacramento Art Guild and is a talented local artist. The class will teach viewers how to use acrylic paints to create a masterpiece. Guests must purchase their art supplies in order to follow along with the instructor. The required materials will include a canvas, piece of chalk, paintbrushes, and paper towels.

Active Aging is a series of programs for seniors offered by the community where people can partake in creative and healthy activities. Examples of events organized by Active Aging include Low Impact Morning Exercise, Virtual Movie Day, and ZOOM-BA Gold with Christine. Due to the pandemic, most of the available activities are offered to seniors virtually over Zoom and Facebook. Coordinators for programs like this can market the events to elderly people by using printing services.

The art course will occur on Wednesday, June 30 and will begin at 2:30 pm. The instruction is free to all attendees, and no prior registration is needed to view the lesson. Guests should have their microphones muted unless they are asking or responding to a question. The link to the Zoom meeting and the room ID can be found on the event’s website.
