Companies and individuals in West Sacramento and Downtown Sacramento are preparing to take part in a vote that will decide whether a new streetcar system will be implemented in the city.
Property owners in the central business district will be asked if they are willing to contribute $30m out of their own back pockets to help construct this system, which is estimated to cost around $150m in total.
The vote will be distributed via mail on January 13 to several hundred companies and individuals who own 1,200 parcels within a three-block radius of the planned rail route. As part of the plan, landowners will also be asked to commit to annual payments to help Sacramento and West Sacramento set up this streetcar system, which is thought of as a modern version of rail cars that were operational in the city and its suburbs over half a century ago.
The voting process will no doubt keep Print companies on their toes as they are hired to Print off ballot Forms as well as leaflet and flyer printing as this ballot gets underway.
Those taking part in the ballot will have a month to make their decision, with their votes being considered a make-or-break situation as this streetcar project has been in the pipeline for almost 10 years.
If the streetcars are approved, it could be constructed by 2018, bringing this method of transport back to the city.Get a Free Quote for Forms Get a Free Quote for Print
