West Sacramento area museum to open new exhibit

An event has been planned for the West Sacramento area that will mark the opening of the California Museum’s exhibit ‘Day of the Dead: Art of Día de los Muertos 2016’, and the public is invited to join in the celebration.

The opening day of the brand new exhibit will include a performance and ceremonial blessing by Danza Azteca Kalpulli Maquilli Tonatiuh, face painting, and other activities for the children, a costume contest, and much more. Mayahuel Tequila Museo will be offering both food and drinks for sale, and there will also be a workshop where participants can make their own sugar skulls. Brochures can be printed for events such as this that give further details about the occasion and the history and traditions behind it.

The exhibit itself will include a variety of pieces by California artists related to the Day of the Dead. This event is observed each year in Mexico on November 1st and 2nd as a way of honoring loved ones who have passed away. The tradition can trace its origin back to the Aztecs.

The grand opening of the Day of the Dead: Art of Día de los Muertos 2016 will take place at the California Museum on October 14th, starting at 6:00 pm. Further details and an opportunity to purchase tickets can be found on its Eventbrite listing.
