For siblings of children who have special needs, an event planned for the West Sacramento area will provide a chance to have fun with others who understand what they are going through.
The Sibling Workshop will give those who take part an opportunity to enjoy themselves, make new friends, and interact with adults who have an understanding of what it can be like to have a brother or sister with special needs. Lunch is provided, and the small group size gives all of the kids a chance to get to know one another.
The session has been organized by the WarmLine Family Resource Center, and will be facilitated by adults who are not therapists, but who know the challenges a sibling in this situation can face. A Print company can produce coloring sheets, workbooks, and other materials for the children who take part in a session such as this.
The Siblings Workshop will be held on December 10, and will run from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the Martin Luther King Library in Sacramento. There is no charge to participate, but since it is limited to 12 children, it is recommended that families register early. It is open to kids ages 7 to 10.
An opportunity to find out more, and to register to take part, can be found on the event’s website.
