Prolific singer-songwriter comes to West Sacramento area

Bruce Cockburn, a prolific singer-songwriter now in his late 70s, is coming to the West Sacramento area for a concert at the Crest Theatre.

The all-ages concert will feature music from Cockburn’s latest studio album. It will also feature select tunes from throughout his career, which spans 38 albums in total.

Cockburn is known as much for his poetic lyrics as he is for his guitar skills, tackling topics such as spirituality, finding light in the darkness, and environmentalism.

His latest album, O Sun O Moon, was recorded in Nashville. It features production from Cockburn’s longtime collaborator, Colin Linden, as well as guest vocals by Susan Aglukark, keyboardist Janice Powers, drummers Gary Craig and Christ Brown, bassist Viktor Krauss, accordion player Jeff Taylor, multi-instrumentalist Jim Hoke, and violinist Jenny Scheinman, among others.

There are also a number of other guest vocalists on Cockburn’s latest album, including Shawn Colvin, Buddy Miller, Allison Russell, Sarah Jarosz, and siblings Ann and Regina McCrary, who hail from the gospel tradition.

Mixing elements of folk, blues, and jazz, Cockburn has garnered a number of awards over the years, including being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Musicians who perform at concerts like these may use graphic design services for album art or other promotional material.

Bruce Cockburn performs this Saturday, March 1 at the Crest Theatre in Sacramento at 1013 K St. Doors open at 7:00 pm and the concert is at 8:00 pm.
