Fair celebrates the states finest food

The 4th annual Food Literacy Fair is taking place this September in Sacramento. It is in recognition of Food Literacy Awareness Month.

The fair is being presented by Assembly member Roger Dickinson, the Food Literacy Center, and the Southside Park Neighborhood Association. There are plenty of activities planned for the day, including an art show, games, health screenings, and information booths. The Veggie of the Year will be the subject of a demonstration.

There will also be lots for the kids to do, including a farm animal petting zoo, face painting and crafts. Music will be provided by The Hoots. In addition, there will be a mobile greenhouse, a photo booth, and Food Literacy Award winners will be announced.

Food Literacy Month was proclaimed by the Governor of the state in June of 2012, and was sponsored by Dickinson. In addition to promoting healthy eating, the month also promotes local producers and farmers' markets.

This event will attract visitors from all over, whether they come from North, South, East, or West Sacramento. Local Stationery printers may have been asked to provide Flyers to help spread the word throughout the city.

The Food Literacy Fair is being held at Southside Park on September 14 from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Admission is free. Call Amber Stott at 916-873-2025 to find out more about this event.
