Up-and-coming female artist comes to San Diego

A singer/songwriter whose love of music is part of her heritage is coming to San Diego.

Jacquelin Melina Campos, whose professional name is Jacqie Rivera, was born in Long Beach, California, the daughter of Jose Trinidad Marin and Jenni Rivera. Marin is from Mexico and Jenni was born in California, creating a Mexican-American household filled with music.

Jenni is the most significant influence on Jaquie’s career. Jenni became known for her work in regional Mexican music. She was drawn specifically to the norteño, mariachi, and banda Forms. Lively mariachi music is familiar to almost everyone. Norteño music often deals with social topics, and banda music relies heavily on percussion and brass. Jenni was named by media outlets such as Billboard and CNN as regional Mexican music’s most important female artist.

Jacqie has inherited her mother’s talent and has used it to continue Jenni’s work, while at the same time, forging her own direction. She has blended the sounds that come from her mother’s career, and from her Mexican-American heritage, into a new form she calls “Fusion Music.” Her singles have been viewed more than 11 million times on social media, and she has over 3.5 million followers, all eager to hear her latest music.

They will have the chance to hear Jacqie Rivera in San Diego on May 2 at the Music Box. Shows like this benefit from publicity generated when poster printing is used to create advertising.
