Rick Springfield is originally from South Wentworthville in New South Wales, Australia, who grew up bouncing around between Australia and England thanks to his father’s military career. He began his career playing in local rock bands, and finally joined Zoot, a favorite throughout Australia until they split up in 1971.
When his career stalled, he began acting. He was cast as Dr. Noah Drake on “General Hospital” in 1981, a role that made him a star and enabled him to release “Working Class Dog,” his debut album. “I’ve Done Everything for You” and “Jessie’s Girl” are both on this album, which was a hit and led to Springfield’s Grammy in the category of Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.
In 1982, he dropped “Success Hasn’t Spoiled Me Yet,” which contained the single “Don’t Talk to Strangers,” another hit. His third album, “Living in Oz” was another success, climbing to No. 9 on the Billboard 200 and putting the sing “Affair of the Heart” in the Top 10. He has continued recording and performing.
