Texas comedian comes to San Diego

A stand-up comedian who got his career start in Texas is on the way to San Diego.

Ralph Barbosa was born in Dallas and raised in Mesquite, a suburb. It was when he was a senior at North Mesquite High School that he began performing comedy, mostly to distract his teachers.

He began his career in earnest in 2019 at 23 when he won the title of the Funniest Comic in Texas. He was the winner of a New York International Latino Film Festival in 2021 and went on to host the “Entre Nos: The Winners 3,” an HBO Max special.

In 2023, he made his late-night television debut on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” and appeared on a “Don’t Tell Comedy” Show that was subsequently shown on YouTube, where it had received almost five million views by September 2023. The next month, Netflix released his comedy special, “Ralph Barbosa: Cowabunga.”

The Top Latin Times put Barbosa on its list of Best Stand Up Comedians of 2023, describing his style as laid back, and often connecting with his audiences through his Hispanic heritage. Once critic described Barbosa as:

". . . cool, calm and effortlessly funny, even when joking about wondering what it means to be cool."

Barbosa will be at the San Diego Civil Theatre on April 10. Events like this are helped by the publicity they receive when organizers use poster printing to advertise them.
