Women in hard rock are making their mark, including an all-female tribute band to one of the legends of the genre. The Iron Maidens have rapidly become one of the most popular tribute bands to Iron Maiden, due to their exciting stage shows and outstanding musicianship.
The group formed in 2001 and is based in Los Angeles. The founders were Jenny Warren, the lead vocalist, and Melanie Sisneros, who was formerly a member of Wrathchild, an Iron Maiden tribute band, on bass. Two former members of Phantom Blue, guitarist Josephine Draven and drummer Linda McDonald, and Sara March, a guitarist, all came aboard to create the original five-member lineup. There have been numerous changes since then, but the members all have one thing in common: musical talent.
All the women are trained professionals who have backgrounds in genres from rock and blues to musical theater and classical orchestras. The band has released three albums and covers material from all eras of Iron Maiden’s career. Their stage shows include Eddie, the Iron Maiden’s mascot, and other characters. A review says:
“They're all great at their instruments so they don't shy away from Maiden's longest jam songs.”
The Iron Maidens will be at the Music Box on January 16. Shows like this can be supported by advertisements created by organizers using poster printing.
