Motown legends scheduled for San Diego

Two legendary bands that are synonymous with the Motown sound are coming to San Diego.

The Temptations and The Four Tops are touring together, promising a memorable show everyone will love.

The Temptations are frequently called “American Music Royalty,” and are known throughout the world for the prolific career and extensive music catalog. Billboard magazine called them the “#1 R&B/ Hip Hop Artists of All Time,” and Rolling Stone magazine named them one of the “100 Greatest Artists of All Time.”

The Temptations formed in 1961 in Detroit. Their big break came in 1964, when they released “My Girl,” a single written by Smokey Robinson and Ronnie White. The song was the group’s first hit that reached No. 1, as well as a classic that became their signature song.

The Four Tops were known as the Four Aims when they started out in Detroit in 1953. In 1964, they hit their stride with the Motown classic, “Baby I Need Your Loving.” They had 24 hits in the Top 40, and won a spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

A review says:

“. . . there’s something about these groups—the importance of the name, the legendary Motown professionalism, and the magic of both their catalogues—that made it more . . . than just a tribute.”

The bands will be at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay on September 20. Organizers of shows like this may use poster printing to create advertising for them.
