Iconic San Diego attraction celebrates the season
One of San Diego’s most popular attractions will start its holiday celebrations soon.
Jungle Bells takes place throughout the San Diego Zoo, which is divided into sections such as Africa Rocks and the Lost Forest. On Front Street, the Jingle Brass will play favorite music of the season, and zoo employees will host the interactive Reindeer Games.
Jack Frost Juggler will roam through the Wildlife Explorers Basecamp, as will the Holiday Troubadour, an acoustic guitarist and vocalist.
Several of Santa’s elves will appear at Sydney’s Grill in the Urban Jungle, where they will perform the Toy Shop Hop, an acrobatic performance on a trampoline.
In the Outback, people can find characters such as Sydney Koala, Churchill Polar Bear, and Dr. Harry Lion, dressed up in holiday costumes for photos with visitors. They will also find the Holiday Harmonies, an a capella quartet, performing in the Boardwalk Beer Garden.
In Africa Rocks, Dr. Zoolittle will tell his own version of the “Night Before Christmas,” and Santa’s Factory will be operating in the Lost Forest. Finally, there will be three light treks - one on the Tiger Trail in the Lost Forest; one on Front Street; and one in the Cactus Garden in Africa Rocks.
Entertainers perform three or four times nightly, with performances lasting 25 to 30 minutes. Jungle Bells opens December 19 and runs through January 4. Seasonal events like this benefit when organizers use poster printing to create colorful advertisements for them.
