A talented singer/songwriter whose album hit the top of the charts, and who has opened for artists like Elvis Costello and the Dave Matthews Band is coming to San Diego.
Amos Lee is from Philadelphia, and attended college at the University of South Carolina, where he became interested in music. Inspired by artists like Otis Redding and Luther Vandross, he began playing bass and guitar in a local band. He returned to Philadelphia where he taught school but also played gigs on open mic nights. By this time Lee had a manager, Bill Eib, who was able to get Lee gigs opening for stars like BB King. Eib was also friends with Bob Dylan’s manager, and that led to a tour in which Lee opened for Dylan.
With a solid foundation, Lee released his first album, “Amos Lee,” in 2005. It went to No. 2 on the Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart. Lee has been praised for his soulful voice and folksy, bluesy style.
