San Bernardino to offer law enforcement instructor course

The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department will be giving a course in June that people can take to become certified instructors.

The Academy Instructor Certification Course is a program offered at the Frank Bland Regional Training Center that teaches innovative techniques to aspiring teachers. The class gives students the necessary skills for teaching in the Peace Officer’s Standards and Training (POST) Regular Basic Course. Those who complete the lessons can also teach in the Academy Instructor Certificate Program. All participants must be employed at a POST law enforcement agency to be eligible for the course.

Many important topics will be covered at the instructor certification class, including the concepts of adult learning, presentation skills, and the elements of training. Students will also learn about delivery strategies and instructional resources. The class is intended for those interested in progressing through the Instructor Development program. Participants are required to wear business casual clothing to the course and must present their IDs after they arrive at the training center.

The certification course will be held from June 12 to June 16. Each class will last from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Those who are part of non-POST reimbursable agencies will need to pay $298 to attend the program. Organizations that create courses like this may use brochure printing to give their guests educational pamphlets to take from the classes.
