August is just around the corner, and will welcome the annual Run Through the Pines. This run is one of the oldest in Southern California, and participants may choose from nine options.
The two main runs will be the Run Through the Pines 5K and 10K. Kids can run the one-mile or half-mile fun runs. Groups of ten or more participate together in the 5K group and 10K group. There will also be a 5K/10K combo package, a 5K Race Walk/10K combo and a 5K Race Walk.
Pre-registrants will receive T-Shirts, and all finishers will get custom designed medals. All participants will get racing bibs and numbers, water, and medical support along the course. Water and fresh fruit and will be available at the finish line. The venue will have a participant care booth that will be sure that runners get to the right waves at the designated times.
The event will use RFID (radio frequency identification) race timing, and races will be in waves according to age, with the top three winners in each wave receiving awards. Families of the winners may enjoy taking pictures of the athlete for family Calendars and possible future poster printing.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 12 starting at 7:00 am at Lake Gregory, 24740 San Moritz Way, Crestline. The runs will be around Lake Gregory, which is at about 5,000 feet in elevation.
