San Bernardino remembers Marley with Kaya Fest

Kaya Fest, two-days dedicated to the memory of Bob Marley and reggae, will be celebrating one love, peace and unity, along with the 40th anniversary of the singing icon’s highest-charting non-compilation album ‘Kaya’.

A medley of 24 reggae artists is on the event line-up. This will be a family-friendly event and kids eight years old and younger will get in free.

Five Marley sons – Julian, Ky-Mani, Damian, Ziggy and Stephen – will join forces here in Southern California for the first time in 10 years and head the entertainment. They will be joined by Lauryn Hill, Cypress Hill, Soja and Action Bronson, Chronixx, Toots and the Maytals and Common Kings. Inner Circle, Marcia Griffiths and Third World will be some of the other performers. The second generation of Marleys – Jo Mersa, Skip Marley, Shacla and Bambaata Payne – will be carrying on the Marley singing tradition.

Yoga sessions will start the day, Nyabinghi Drummers will be leading drumming sessions, while Kaya Family Gardens will offer interactive experiences. Craft vendors and artists from around the globe will be displaying their work in the Kaya Village.

Non-professional cameras will be allowed, so many fans will be taking pictures that they can take to their local Print shops to get some Marley-esque poster printing done.

Kaya Fest will be at the NOS Center, 689 S. E. Street Saturday, April 28 through Sunday, April 29. Gates open at noon both days.
