San Bernardino receives $46 million for capital improvements

The San Bernardino City Council approved a five -year plan for road and landscaping improvement in city. The plan allocates $46 million for capital improvements.

The total budget for 2018-2023 totals 107 million. Mayor R. Carey Davis says that the city is dedicated to improving the buildings, street lights, and landscaping. They are finally in the position to address the need for improvement in this area.

Over 200 street lights with LED lighting and be replaced and installed. The city maintenance crew will get new equipment asphalt and pickup trucks. This will speed clean-up and fix roadways more quickly.

The slurry seal projects will improve the overall conditions of the roadways in the city. They have scheduled multiple streets to be repaired for 2018-2019.

Many of the city intersections will have new traffic signals installed to improve the flow of traffic and safety. The tree maintenance program will remove all dead trees, plant drought resistant plants, and strive to make the city an urban forest.

The Public Works Dept. is doing an assessment of 176 structures owned by the city. They will decide whether to upgrade, maintain, or sell the buildings. All projects will be overseen by the Public Works Department.
