The Girl Scouts San Gorgonio Council will be starting their cookie selling season with its 2017 GSSGC Colorful Dash and Cookie Kickoff next year/month. Girls, parents, and little ones are invited to participate.
Cookie Kick Off will occur first, taking place a couple of hours before the race. Guests will taste this year’s cookies and participate in games that teach the five basic key skills and how to set up a cookie selling booth. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) will have demonstrations and hands-on activities.
The 5KColorful Dash will be held at night, and many participants will be towing little ones in wagons or riding scooters. As runners pass through the ‘Color Throw Zones’ they will be showered with sparkly neon powder. This is combination of baking soda, cornstarch, and FD&C dyes, and the sparkles are free of heavy metals, making it all harmless.
Food vendors will be onsite and runners need to bring their water bottles so they can take advantage of the water refill stations.
Although there will be a couple of photographers there, parents can bring cameras to get good shots of their girls. These pictures will make colorful subjects for later poster printing.
The event is scheduled for January 14 from 2:00 to 7:00 pm at CSUSB, 5500 University Parkway, San Bernardino. Races will start at 5:15 pm.
