San Bernardino celebrates cars and Route 66

The San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its 5th Annual Return to Rendezvous Back to Route 66. This will be the event’s third year in downtown San Bernardino.

Over 600 classic and custom cars have already preregistered and the organizers are expecting about 1,200 by event time. Proud owners will be taking pictures for later poster printing. Last year the crowd was estimated to be about 30,000, and this year’s total should top that.

Other highlights will be Open Header and First Responder Row. The Show-Off Hour will be returning, as well as the Poker Run.

The 1.3-mile cruise route this year will start at 2nd Street and proceed to Arrowhead Avenue. It will then turn north and go to 5th, turn west on 5th, and continue on to E Street. From there it will go south then east onto 4th until it reaches D Street. The route will continue south until it reaches 2nd, then end on Arrowhead Avenue.

Three beverage gardens will be open for business, and live entertainment will be on the Court Street Stage. DJ Thumper will be playing old favorites and local bands will be giving performances. Street vendors selling merchandise and food will be in the parking lot on Court Street.

The Rendezvous will be held from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm on Saturday, October 7 in downtown San Bernardino.
